Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Families,

On behalf of the children, staff and trustees, I welcome you to Brownlow Primary School. We are all very proud of our school, and I am extremely privileged to be the Headteacher.

Brownlow Primary School is situated in the heart of Melton Mowbray, a small market town in North East Leicestershire. We pride ourselves on being at the centre of the community, providing a safe, happy, welcoming environment for children, parents and visitors. Whilst we are a large primary school with over 500 pupils, we maintain a real family feel and a strong community ethos.

We believe education is about the whole child, their well-being and enrichment as well as their academic success. The Brownlow team are dedicated to providing the children with first-class care and high-quality learning activities and experiences. The supportive ethos within the school enables pupils of all abilities to thrive as they grow and develop.

We aim for our curriculum opportunities to be creative, broad and varied so that all children can achieve their best and are motivated to continue their learning beyond their years at Brownlow Primary. We are extremely passionate about music and sport and are proud of our successes in these areas.

We strive to build strong and purposeful relationships with families. We operate an “open door” policy and we welcome feedback and comments. We also value the support that families give us so that we can work in partnership for the benefit of the children.

In 2014, Brownlow Primary joined the Mowbray Education Trust. This move has enabled the school to keep our unique identity but also provide us with group strength and an opportunity for us to feel part of something ‘bigger’. We share our wealth of expertise within the Trust.

Brownlow was most recently inspected by OFSTED in September 2023. We were delighted that the inspectors could see our many strengths and we were graded “Good” in all aspects.

“Brownlow Primary is a school where ‘children come first’. Staff care for pupils in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.” OFSTED

Choosing the right start to your child’s education is very important. We hope that the information on our website will be useful to you in making your decision. If you have any further queries, or would like to visit us, please contact the school to make an appointment.
